Catching a Poem out of Thin Air

I cherish the freedom
To be left alone in a total switch-off mode
In a cafeteria overlooking
An aha-moment-inducing lake.

In view outside the freshwater habitat
Inside you’re left to yourself
Gripped by an image hovering
In the caramelized air
That refuses to be captured.

It, like a fish on a hook
With a bait in the mouth
Tails back and forth
Through the mind’s lake
You let it uncoil the thread of your patience
You neither lose hope, nor do you tire.

A few hours later
You saunter back down the path
With the image reeled in
Caught between the pages
That shows the promise
Of stirring back to life
Every time your eyes are set on it!
