The train was still. Achromatic gloom outside. No station in sight. His eyes, blinking groggily, narrowed to a circle of luminescence, dimming and brightening, waning and waxing. Was he hallucinating, he couldn’t be sure.
He left his cubicle abuzz with catathrenia. Unlocking the door, he got off; moved a bit up-close. Having a starbath, he no longer felt hot or ruffled.
It struck him then, quite out of the woods that he too could light up the darkness life metes out with the glow of his own heart.
The forest of fireflies kept flashing in unison their bluish green light.
